Dugan Wins in NZ

New Zealand-trained Spicer Thoroughbreds DUGAN pulled off an impressive win in New Zealand this morning.

It’s been a wait for us to break through, but what a way to do it, 4 wide the trip and was too good for them in the run home .

John Sargent rang and said congratulations to all directly after the race. John said it was a big effort to score but the way he ploughed through the heavy track we may be able to take advantage of those wet tracks going forward.

Chris Waller trains AMOVATIO win in Sydney

Well it couldn’t of started better for Amovatio with such an impressive win and with still plenty to learn which is a bonus.

Both trainer Chris Waller and jockey Hugh Bowman gave him great praise post-race and we can now look forward to much better races going forward .

Cheers guys, and Congratulations!

Waller to keep impressive 2YO in Sydney during winter

Nic Ashman – Wednesday, 15 May 2013

Just a race after Gai Waterhouse produced a promising juvenile, Sydney’s leading trainer Chris Waller unearthed another two-year-old that looks destined for bigger things at Canterbury on Wednesday.

Amovatio debuted for Waller in the TAB iPhone App Maiden Plate (1200m), box-seating from its inside gate.

Hugh Bowman began to switch across heels coming around the home turn, when the son of Al Maher appeared momentarily to lose concentration before the premier rider navigated a clear passage and punched the gelding to victory.

“He’s pretty raw. I must admit throughout the run he was getting it together as we went so he’ll improve both mentally and physically,” Bowman said.

Debutante Cosmic Endeavour won by 3-1/4 lengths for Waterhouse when leading all the way with the trainer indicating there was a chance the filly could head to Queensland, however Waller will says he will keep Amovatio in Sydney during the winter months with a view to the spring.

“He’s still got a lot of improvement to come. We haven’t wound him out to get here today that’s for sure,” Waller said.

“It would be nice to get a Saturday win. They come in handy when you’re looking towards the better races.”

Amovatio ($2.80 fav) defeated the Bjorn Baker-trained Brilliant Terror ($9), who finished hard to be beaten 1-1/2 lengths after being held up at a vital stage in the run home, with Adage ($6) from the Peter Snowden camp finishing a neck back in third.

The race presents as a strong form race as Brilliant Terror defeated the John O’Shea-trained Savvy Nature in his only trial with Savvy Nature debuting last weekend at Kembla and thrashing her rivals.

“My bloke is looking for another 1000 metres on that so we’re pretty happy,” Baker said.

Leia Win at Sale VIDEO

Here is the video of Leia’s recent win at Sale.

Leia Proves a worthy Princess

Well the wait was worth it after seeing what Leia did today to a really good bunch of 2 year olds. I spoke with 2 trainers here in Sydney that had runners today in our race and they both gave their horses a rap, but our girls class carried her a long way today in the Duart Homestead SV 2YO Maiden Plate over 1108m. Prize Money was $17,500 plus $9,000 Super VOBIS Bonus.

She had no favours in the run after being posted 3 wide for the whole trip, but when Michael Walker asked her for a big effort in the straight she let rip like a quality filly .Michael said she has the makings of a promising filly once she learns how to be a race horse, as she is still doing things on fear .

Leon was so happy with today as he has put his neck out over recent weeks declaring this filly has a good future and that’s what you want to see when you make big statements.

We will endeavour to get the video of the race up shortly.
