Secret Meteor Video Update

Secret Meteor Strings 2 In A Row

Congratulations team as our boys strings 2 in a row!

Well it just goes to show you need patience in this game as a horse we nearly had written off has now won 2 start and looks to have a bright future if he can translate his synthetic track form onto the grass.

Craig Newit let him settle early and on the turn it looked hopeless but he put in a barnstorming run to get there in the shadows of the post. Craig said he will stay all day this horse and if he keeps improving has a good future ahead of him.

Leon was over the moon as we keep working this guy hard and he is just responding to every little piece we give him.

Secret stars for Corstens

Lightly raced three-year-old Secret Meteor looks to be going places after completing a double in barnstorming style on the Geelong synthetic track on Sunday.

The Northern Meteor gelding had bolted in over 1900 metres on the synthetic track at his last start, on April 24.

He was stepping up from maiden grade in Sunday’s Geelong Medical Imaging Showcase Benchmark 70 Handicap over the same trip, but his form was franked earlier in the day when the horse he beat by 3½ lengths, Transit Moscow, led all the way to win a maiden by 4¼.

Slow to begin on Sunday, Secret Meteor ($4) was among the tailenders in the eight-horse field turning for home but produced an impressive burst once Craig Newitt got him into the clear, overhauling leader Scoot Filoot ($10) in the final 50 metres. Typhoon Tyson ($7.50) battled on for third after briefly looking the winner halfway up the straight.

Secret Meteor’s win improved Newitt’s day, as he’d been beaten on odds-on favourites in the first two races.

Speaking to TVN’s Shane Templeton after the race, Newitt predicted more wins to come for the gelding.

“He started off pretty slow, but he’s a nice horse. He’s very little and he’s got a little bit of attitude about him but during the race he gave me a beautiful ride. He never touched the bridle until I asked him to pick up.

“At the top of the straight he just got held up a bit but he showed a good little turn of foot.

“He shows a liking for this track. I’m sure over the next few months we’re going to be here a fair bit so hopefully he’s in the winner’s stall.”

Newitt added that Secret Meteor could take his form to a grass track and be “competitive anywhere”.

Secret Meteor has had five starts for two wins and a third, earning $30,850 in prizemoney.

Secret Meteor Wins at Geelong

CONGRATULATIONS !!

Well what a difference a dry track and a rise in trip makes which gives us some hope this horse that we nearly wrote off early doors, can make the grade.

Terrific ride from Jamie as he gave him a lovely trail and when the gap came he really let down like the further he goes the better he will get!  Jamie said he still has lots to learn mentally but he did a great job to win after being tardy away, and who knows, that win might bring him right on!

Leon was relived more than anything as his work had been good at home and today we saw the results after a few so so runs.
