Our girl, Kermadelle showed she is a horse with a bright future after she dismantled a Maiden field at Warrnambool over 1700m today.

She left her wide gate with a handy turn of foot but that worked against her as she wasn’t able to slot in with cover for much of the early part of the race. Beau Merterns aboard knew what he had under him so was content to let her bowl along until he was able to get a backside to follow. Thankfully he managed to get some relief mid race, one out – one back and Kermadelle wasn’t fussed at all, racing in a beautiful rhythm.

Leaving the 600m behind them, Beau edged out and let her loom into proceedings. It wasn’t long before she levelled up to the leaders appearing to be full of running. That she was. As she found clear air, she sprinted quickly, racing right away with the prize. Her margin on the line a neat 6L, indicative of her class.

Lindsey had prudently changed things up somewhat at home. He felt he had been a little hard on her so decided to just back off a touch, letting her enjoy beach work and mixing it up with some short sharp stuff. That was evident in the way she sprinted clear over the concluding stages.

The trainer of Tuvalu even jibed comparing this stablemate to his Gr.1 star. In some ways perhaps… she is by the same sire and even bears a little bit of a resemblance to the Toorak Hcp winner. She has some ground to make up but is armed and dangerous so watch this space!

Congratulations to the winning team: Rippo’s Birthday Punters, Mr C J Morrison, Mr C W Kwok, Mr R J Fynmore, Mrs J C Fynmore, Mr R B Peters, Dr M W R Basset, Mr C G Rippon, Mr J S C Pierre, Mr B W Brown, Mr J M Healey, Sullivan Bloodstock, Mr S B Young and Mr C R Essex.

The 4yo next heads to Ballarat on the 26th of October before setting her sights on a nice mares race at Flemington on Oaks Day.
