Cadbury Castle Gets The Chocolates!

It may have only been a Highweight at Warrnambool but we were absolutely thrilled to see our boy Cadbury Castle return to the Winner’s List today.

Just to see the horse racing again after sustaining a broken pelvis was rewarding in itself but to see him give us a glimpse of what he’s capable of was a massive tick for connections.

Full credit to Lindsey and his professional team for getting Cadbury Castle back to health.

He started fav in the race and jumped well settling midfield on the rail. Jockey Cam Rawiller had him travelling kindly throughout and with the leaders starting to paddle, he began to inch closer. By his own admission, Cam felt he had put him there a little prematurely but to the 6yo’s credit he sustained a good strong gallop, holding off the 2nd fav, Princeton Award who did himself no favours being slowly away.

Cam felt the son of Camelot would have won by a space had he been given a bunny to chase in the straight but just to see him win comfortably, especially with 70.5kg on his back and up to 2400m from 1600m first up, was satisfying enough.

We always had high hopes for this horse and had no doubt he was a Group quality stayer. Now with his career appearing to be back on track and if he can stay sound, there are some decent targets on our radar, including a possible tilt at the Warrnambool Cup in May next year.

Congratulations to his patient owners Distinct Racing And Breeding Pty Ltd, Princeton Thoroughbred Stud, Mr S A Farrell, TC Thoroughbreds, Mr C M Hosie, Mr K J Matthews, Mr B Cobanoglu, Let It Ride Collaboration, Mr R Amaral, Mr A Schultz, Mr T D Tonkin, Mr D Cicciarelli, Mr J I Bennett-Hullin, Mr C P Simpson, Miss D Patton and Mr D I Syme
