What A Hoot Wins in Bendigo

Well finally we can say Congratulations this time in as it’s been a long time coming!! It’s really been one of those frustrating preps where a few things didn’t go our way, but we have learnt so much this time in.

Some positives we can take out of this prep is we worked out he hates wet tracks, doesn’t like the synthetic as much as grass, is more of a 1000-1300 maybe 1400 meter horse and is only going to get better as he gets older. Knowing all this now will hold us in good stead for his future racing!

Patty Moloney gave him a great ride and showed why he is one of the most promising kids coming through our riding ranks ! he boxed seated him before he showed those wonderful left handed whip skills that got us over the line !!

Vezalay Wins at Caulfield

Ancient Bull wins at Pakenham

Congratulations on the win by the Bull yesterday! It was great to see him salute the judge after having a couple of solid runs back.

He is developing a bit of a cult following in the stable as he is a lovely animal and it was a satisfying win for all involved staff, owners and Leon also!

Leon said he was very good there yesterday he dominated the race sitting outside the leader and gave a good kick when required at the business end.

Amovatio Wins VRC-CRV Winter Championship Series Final

 Amovatio (Al Maher/Grand Ovation):

He raced at Flemington this afternoon on a track rated a good 4 with Damien Oliver aboard. From the wide draw Damien sat quietly on him and managed to slot in, on the fence, with two horses behind him. The speed was very genuine which helped our horse as he was off the bridle and relaxed early. Damien rode a really patient race as he was conscious of how much weight he was giving to the majority of the other runners and wanted to conserve as much energy as possible. When Amovatio got up behind the wall of horses, halfway down the straight, he started to switch on, he took a gap and with 50 metres to go we thought he was going to run a nice place, but he dug deep just on the line to win by a nose. Damien said he was so tough and goes really well at Flemington and has pulled up well from the run. Well done to you all and as we said all along, through his consistent and often unlucky runs he deserves to win a good one which he did today. We will see how he is over the next couple of days before working out another race or spelling him.

Totolo Wins a 1100m at Bendigo

Totolo Bendigo 08-07-15 from Spicer Thoroughbreds on Vimeo.

Well done and that was a very good win albeit in against a modest bunch of horses and D.Dunn never panicked he sat cool as a cucumber 3 wide before delivering the knockout punch in the straight.

Dwayne said he travelled well even though he elected to stay deep as the speed was too hot to his inside ,but he ran well through the line and there should be another win in him shortly if we place him right.

Leon said that everything worked today, the blinkers back on, the approach to race day for a bleeder and also the ride from Dunny when he didn’t panic because he couldn’t cross to the lead.

We will try and find a similar graded race in 2-3 weeks’ time and hopefully make it 2 in a row.

Enjoy this one guys as it was a long time coming …

Amovatio Wins At Flemington

Well first, Congratulations to all the team Chris Waller, Justine Hales (Chris’s Foreperson) and Ollie who rode him 11/10 super ride!

Congratulations also to all of you as it certainly doesn’t get any better than a win at Flemington, regarded as the holy grail of racetracks, where it’s that little bit more special!

Ollie said he felt very switched on today, travelled a bit keen when the pace slackened but let down with a great turn of foot and will be one of the main chances in the final on July 11th over the mile.

As long as he pulls up well in the next few days then its full steam ahead to the final and hopefully enjoy another magic day like yesterday…

Word Of Mouth leaves them breathless

Well that was a sight for sore eyes today and congratulation’s to the whole team as he certainly came of age at Moonee Valley today with a great turn of foot. Patty Moloney was a 10/10 ride and made it look very easy in the end.  Leon and Troy have certainly presented the horse in great order this time in and credit must go to the horse as he is so genuine when he gets to his right distance under soft conditions.

I actually missed Patty Maloney’s post-race comments as we were all celebrating but will catch him tomorrow for a rundown on the race.

Enjoy the win and yes it was a big day as those mighty Bulldog’s did the right thing as well, have a great weekend…
