Ollie Rides Crediton to Win at Geelong

Congratulations!!!

Well in this game it’s always nice to be surprised and today was one of those days, but it wasn’t a complete shock all the same as the horse does have nice stying ability.

Ollie rode him perfect – nice and quiet early and when he asked for a sprint, he picked up with a good turn of foot which gives us great confidence when he reaches his right distances of 2000-2400 meters.

Leon loves this horse and is relieved more than anything, as he showed today what we see at home, in the fact he has a nice future.

We won’t get carried away just yet but we are hopeful he could look to be a Derby horse for us this prep if he keeps improving.

Enjoy the win guys and there looks to be plenty more over the journey to enjoy.

Papavero Wins at Mornington

Well what a way to start off 2016 and a big shout out has to go to our Vet Jim Vassey who performed the throat surgery on our boy, as we look to have a very nice racing prospect on our hands.

Peter wanted Reagan to take a sit, but when he couldn’t get in, he just zoomed around the field, did all the work and had the cheek to have a pretty soft win by nearly 4 lengths. We never get too carried away, but on today’s win we look to have a very nice metro class horse on our hands and it’s all up to him to prove that in coming starts.

I am rapt to have a good one for Peter, especially as it’s my first horse with him and we should have a lot of fun moving forward.

Trainers Say:

Very pleasing to see Papavero do it at both ends yesterday at Mornington and bring up his maiden win in the 1200m event. He certainly looked impressive, albeit in a weak race, and we look forward to seeing what improvement he can make on the back of this effort, expecting him to also gain good confidence from the win. All looks ok with his recovery so far so will press on for a quiet week for him now and will follow up with more news after next Tuesdays gallop session.

Regards

Peter

Kings Command Reigns at Geelong

Congratulations on the win today and what a great result first up with our boy and what a ride by Damien Oliver who was outstanding in getting us over the line. Ollie said he has improved since last prep and really attacked the line well in the last 200 metres once he was fully clear of the pack.

Leon was rapped as the horse has always shown us lots on the training track and now he may start to reap the benefit of a nice grounding early on in his career.

There is another race back at Geelong on the 17th of Jan over 1300 meters that we will look very closely at and then hopefully post that step out in metro grade 🙂

Well done team and we can now look forward to a nice 2016 with Kingy!

Siegestor Wins a 1600 at Moonee Valley

Well it’s not often things go to plan, but yesterday was a good case in point where it went to script 100%. Jye rode him 10/10, he settled well, moved into the race at the right time and kicked home hard in the straight.

Congratulation’s to the whole group as it was a great day at the Valley Yesterday I was told and well done to Leon and his staff on presenting our boy at the races in such good condition. Please find some photos below and I will be in touch in coming days on where his next target will be.

Vezalay wins a 1100m at Caulfield

Congratulations on Vezalay’s big stakes win yesterday which was thoroughly deserved after being so brave at her last 3 starts when beaten less than a length in all 3.

James McDonald was superb with his faultless ride and credit goes to Leon on how he summed up the mare by changing plans and training with her.

It was a great day had by all and a huge thrill to win a race on Caulfield Cup day!

Mr Individual Wins At Caulfield

Congratulations to the entire winning group as it was pretty special win for the whole team.

A big thank you too Mark Zahra who sat on the horse, steered him around and more importantly saw him settle beautifully in the lead which was great to see.

Leon was very chuffed as it very self-gratifying to get a son of a gun to the races and mould him into a potential top class horse ,that’s what racing is all about, the love of the horse!

Amovatio Wins a 1200m at Caulfield

Well what a ride this boy is taking us on and to see that today when he was going to be a certainty beaten ,to snatch victory out of the jaws of defeat was superb!

Hughy Bowman just cold as ice nerves ,waited ,waited ,then waited before pointing Amo’s nose into a needle eye opening and as usual our little bulldog did the rest .

Go and enjoy a cold one tonight to celebrate as we all pinch ourselves to be involved in such a special little horses

POST-RACE REPORT:

Amovatio (Al Maher/Grand Ovation):

He scored well first up when winning impressively with his big weight but Hugh Bowman made it look easy and I think all credit should be going to him as well as our staff. This horse was a sick horse when he had his short break and like us, when under no pressure the horse will recover quicker from an illness, when under pressure and trying to get to other races it just makes it impossible. You need to respect their lungs as that is what gets their oxygen and blood flowing and he has done a fantastic job today. Well done!

Hand From Above Wins Maiden

Well congratulations and we couldn’t have started Hand From Above’s career off any better with a very brave win 1st up. Young Travis rode a very smart race by leading at a very steady tempo which allowed us a nice kick when it mattered. Peter and Paul both passed on their well wishes to the team.
