Awesome Rock wins the G1 Emirates Stakes

Well they say ‘All Good Thing To Those Who Wait’, and Australia Cup redemption couldn’t have come sweeter than the win in the 2016 Group 1 Emirates Stakes for Awesome Rock.  Trained by Leon & Troy Corstens and with a superb ride from jockey Stephen Baster, the Brad Spicer-purchased son of FASTNET ROCK out of the mare AWESOME PLANET, finally found his place at the Group 1 level.   Congratulations to all the owners who have been through the highs and lows of racing recently, and the elation shown in finally scoring a Group 1 win was a welcome reward.

For Spicer Thoroughbreds, AWESOME ROCK marks the fourth group 1 winner, following the champions STARSPANGLEDBANNER, ZABEELIONAIRE and COMMANDING JEWEL.  This is an astounding record for a syndicator, and another vote of confidence for Brad Spicer’s ability to pick champion bloodstock at the nation’s thoroughbreds sales as he prepares for the 2017 sales season.
