It was an absolute thrill to see our boy Tango And Cash knock off his Maiden on a heavy track at Ballarat today.

The 4yo from the 2nd last crop of the mighty Redoute’s Choice, looked very mediocre in his runs to date but with a legitimate excuse… he could hardly breathe!

Lindsey always maintained the opinion this guy could gallop, so we decided to get his issue resolved with throat surgery and though often such procedures are not successful, we are so happy to see a positive outcome for him.

Given time and patience Tango And Cash returned to the track this afternoon having done everything right in the leadup but unless horses are placed under proper race pressure, no-one never knows how a throat operation will take. Our confidence level was guarded, in fact we had planned to send him to the “Drought Breaker” at Swan Hill second up! Thankfully, it was an easy watch with a lovely, smooth ride from Tayla Childs.

Tango And Cash jumped cleanly and dropped his head immediately. Tayla had him stalking the speed provided by odds-on fav Collision. On the corner, our bloke wanted to duck in a touch but Tayla with the stick in the left straightened him and early in the home running, put away the favourite. Not long after that the race was well and truly in his keeping as he cruised home to score an effortless victory.

Tayla, who is on loan to Lindsey, rides Tango And Cash in his work and is full of praise for the 4yo. “He is a sweet horse with a lovely big action” she says so hopefully the pair can forge a nice realtionship when next an apprentice is required for him.

We had been misguided into thinking he didnt handle wet tracks in the past but those failures proved to be a more about his breathing issues. He got through the ground without issue which opens up many options for us over the next couple of months.

Congratulations to patient owners, Zouboo, Don’t Tell The Treasurer, Molka, TC Thoroughbreds, Red Hot Saveloys, Mr J Giri, Miss J L Crozier, Travel Racing, Mr M R Sullivan, Mrs A K Nicoll, Mr W J Nicoll, Mr K S Sutherland, Mrs K Sutherland, Thirty-Thirty Racing and Lindsey who took up shares of owners who were not so patient!

We have two runners later on in the day. Sir Atlas and Bitcoin will both be looking to build on their unbeaten records.
