It may have only been a BM58 on a Friday at Geelong but exciting galloper Sir Atlas gave his fantastic bunch of patient connections something to smile about.

Stepping out for his second race start, the UK bred, son of Sir Percy continued where he left off winning without much effort on debut. With 62.5kg and over a trip that resembled more of a trial than what he will be looking for at his peak, the 4yo looked classes abopve his rivals.

Pilot, Beau Mertens rode him quietly just beyond midfield and the only task he was faced with was to pick the right path when the field fanned on the corner. Sir Atlas came through strongly and finished well down the centre of the track. What was particularly pleasing was seeing how strong he was through the line, building powerfully in his last 100m.

Lindsey Smith will continue to progress the undefeated galloper through the grades.

Sir Percy is another of promising staying prospect we purchased at the Tattersalls Sales in the UK. We will be heading over again this year to buy more yearlings of a similar ilk so getting in touch if you’re interested in getting involved.
