Another stunning victory by Sabar at Warrnambool capped off a very satisfying day for us today, after an earlier victory by Likely Suspect set the tone.
It was also a magical afternoon for our trainer Lindsey Smith who notched up 5 winners on the card making it a total of 8 winners from his last 14 runners!
“He’s a horse with good ability who doesn’t know how fast he can run yet” Lindsey said after he demolished his rivals to make it two in a row.
The stunning son of Almazour, purchased with a Melbourne Cup as his mission was 2nd up again over 1200m today but had been kept nice and fresh by Lindsey. He settled in a great spot with cover and it was pretty much a regulation win from a horse we believe is a Group horse in the making.
He was just left to idle as he went to the line untroubled, perfectly handled by Beau Mertens, who is really stamping himself as a star jockey of the future.
We will probably give this guy another run over a slightly longer trip in a couple of weeks at Sandown then more than likely send him to the paddock after that, hopefully with picket fence form, ready for the Spring.
