Mr Cancun gets the party started

Lightly raced 3YO MR CANCUN (3yo g, Atlante x Gee Whizz) made it three wins from seven starts when cruising clear of his rivals second-up at Geelong in the Higgins Coatings BM64 Hcp over 1400m.

Under a perfect ride from Michael Rodd, Mr Cancun angled out to the best part of the track round the turn and despite being left in front a little early, he powered clear and maintained a comfortable 2.5-length margin right to the line.

“He’s a horse with good talent, he’s still learning but we’re going to have fun with him,” said Rodd.

Purchased from a trial in New Zealand, Mr Cancun takes his name through the Atlante link; Atlante Football Club is one of the most popular sports clubs in Cancun and the Mexican party town is certainly as passionate about its football – nearly as passionate as our big group of owners are about their horse!

Mr Cancun is likely to be stepped to city grade for his next start before the end of the 3YO season.
