Hollaback Girl too slick at Ipswich

Speedy Your Song mare HOLLABACK GIRL (4yo m Your Song x Sheeznodoubt) won her fifth race from just 16 starts at Ipswich on Wednesday, leading all the way to run good time in the TAB Benchmark 72 Hcp (1200m).

Ridden by veteran hoop Jim Byrne, who has won all five races on Hollaback Girl during her career, the mare was always in control of the race and kicked clear round the turn before holding off a late challenge from runner-up Shooting Love.

It was a great performance and testament to the mare’s ability when she is able to use her speed to dominate a race.

“She’s got a really good record in terms of a winning strike rate and I’ll speak to the owners to see what the next move might be,” said Brad Spicer.

“She’s had a couple of injuries that have probably held her back from reaching greater heights but she’s tough and is getting rewards this season.”

Congratulations to the winning owners, Hollaback Girl has now won over $130,000 in prize money.
