Yearling filly, Written Tycoon x Invested Capital

This filly by leading sire Written Tycoon is built for speed and comes from a very deep female family with Group winners in Australia and Europe right through her dam side.

We bought this filly prior direct from the breeder Woodside Park in the knowledge that the first foal of the dam, a colt by Zoustar, is already safely in our ownership and showing a stack of ability. We think he is Group class and when he steps out at the races the value of this filly could go through the roof.

Written Tycoon leaves fast fillies and mares – it’s a fact. Oakleigh Plate winners Pippe and Booker, Luna Rossa and Tycoon Tara were all Group 1 winners by the stallion while Super Cash was a multiple Group 2 winner and a G1 Stradbroke runner-up.

Broodmare sire Zamindar was a brilliant stakes winning 2YO in Europe and is the sire of brilliant unbeaten French filly Zarkava, international G1 performer Darjina, and G1 winner Timepiece amongst a host of Group 1 and stakes winners.

A body built for speed from a family built to run – this is a filly made for those that like the fast things in life!

Private buying pays off

As well as actively buying at auctions around Australia and New Zealand, the Spicer Thoroughbreds also pursue private purchase options on behalf of our owners.

March was a busy week for private buys with two beautiful yearling fillies from fast families and a young broodmare joining the team for our owners. Brad successfully negotiated to purchase a filly by leading stallion Written Tycoon from the Zamindar mare Invested Capital who has a deep family with black type performances in Australia and Europe.

Another filly followed that purchase, this time by Written Tycoon’s Golden Slipper and Magic Millions winning son Capitalist, from the Encosta De Lago mare Relargo – a young mare from the direct family of superstar sprinter and Champion Stallion Fastnet Rock. Coincidentally, Relargo was our last private purchase in March with the broodmare purchased on behalf of a small group of owners to join the broodmare band at Leneva Park.

“As a bloodstock management business we’re responsible to go and source the best possible stock we can to fill orders for our owners, and sometimes we have to pursue those options privately,” explained Brad Spicer.

“The Capitalist filly and her dam Relargo, that was a strategic buy to really get into that family. It’s a similar story with the Written Tycoon filly, we have a close relation that we really like so we saw some good upside there for her new owners. If things go the way we hope on the track, all three will increase in value without setting foot on a race track.”
