Divine Command wins at Seymour!

Trump This wins at Ballarat

Well that was a very good win today from a horse who is still very much raw and will improve immensely with further racing. Ben Thompson gave him a gun ride , he tracked the fav everywhere he went, peeled out deep at the top of the straight and put them to the sword late. Ben said he is still not mentally there  yet doing quite a bit wrong and its only race experience that is against him at the moment, the raw talent is there but he is still a big baby mentally !

Leon was thrilled with the win as he has quite a bit of time for Trumpy, but always mentions next time around, so we won’t get too carried away this prep , maybe another 3-4 starts and in the paddock for an assault later in the year! The old cliché one run at a time! Leon wants to space his runs and he won’t run  now for 3 weeks.

Neutron Dame wins again at Moe

Well what a great result again and credit must go to Kev Corstens who has really turned her around down at the beach, she is really thriving!

Noel Callow gave her a great ride out wide, out of traffic, he then pressed the button at the right time for another good win under her belt.

There are a few options for her next start, but if she was to win again next start, that would be 3 in a row and she would then deserve a crack in town at Moonee Valley in Mid-March.

Doom ‘N’ Boom wins at Lakeside!

Well that was a great result today as we were planning to riding him further forward than normal as that was the pattern on the day, but of course when that happens everything wanted to go forward and created a super-fast temp which in the end helped us win the race.

Ben was terrific as he summed up the situation perfectly and brought our guy into the race with a long sustained run out wide, just going with the momentum of the horse. Ben said he wanted to lay in an out in the straight ,but he thinks that’s because he didn’t have anything to chase in the final 200 meters after hitting the front out wide.

Well done team and Congratulations!

Neutron Dame wins at Moe!

Neutron Dame has now covered herself in glory after finally passing the post in 1st position and a big thank you must go out to you all, as it hasn’t  been easy to stick with her, but hopefully we can squeeze a few more wins in now.

Credit has to go to  Mick Walker who has faith in her after his first ride and also Leon,Troy and Kevin for their persistence even after it looked to be going pearshaped. Mick thinks she still has room for improvement and hopefully we can go back to back!

Itchy Nee wins at Benalla

The Spicer Thoroughbreds train keeps rolling on at full speed with yet another winner in the famous yellow and blue. The latest to salute, Itchy Nee, a Purrealist 3yo having his 3rd race start showed a lovely turn of foot to defeat his rivals at Benalla today.

He was given plenty of time to balance up by Jordan Turner who patiently let the gelding find his feet after an only moderate getaway. Gaining momentum inside runners, it was just a matter of waiting for a crack at them in the straight. Once a gap appeared, Itchy Nee drove through it and quickly put the issue beyond doubt.

It was a welcome reward for Jordan, a gun apprentice on loan to us from W.A., who has worked very hard since crossing over. No doubt his opportunities will flourish after other trainers watched the excellent poise he displayed to win that race.

Wrecking Ball dead heat at Werribee!

Well a half win as pretty good on debut and congratulations to the whole team as he has taken a while to mature, but a little patience will go a long way with him.

He was a little slow into stride being pushed along a little early by Jamie to hold a spot, but once he got into a rhythm it was just a matter of him getting a gap and that came really late in the race where he dived through and showed us he has a great desire to win. I can assure he still has plenty of improvement as he wasn’t 100% wound up and his coat has come through just yet so will be great to see his progress’s over his next few starts. What I can say is that he is developing into a beautiful animal and what we get out of him this prep is a bonus as he still looks to have some maturing to do which is a good sign.
